About Stonington, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Stonington, Illinois is a small Christian County town with about 950 residents.  It is located along Illinois Route 48 between the communities of Blue Mound and Taylorsville. Stonington is also located near several of the region’s major metro areas – Decatur is 20 miles northeast and Springfield is 30 miles northwest.

As a small community, there aren’t any major attractions located in Stonington, but there are a few businesses found here. The One More Bar & Grill is a great little roadside stop for a meal, and local area businesses include Photos for You by Tammy Kater, Monsato Company, and Dee Dee’s Motorcycle Parts.

The nearby cities of Decatur and Springfield offer even more cultural opportunities for Stonington visitors. There are many historical sites in the capital city of Springfield, including the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Decatur is also home to many attractions that families with children might enjoy, including the Scovill Zoo, Fairview Park, and the Children’s Museum of Illinois. The Wabash Depot Antique Mall is also a popular destination for bargain shoppers.

The weather in Stonington features four different seasons with unique climate conditions. The area experiences hot and humid summer months, with July serving as the hottest time of the year. Average highs reach into the upper-80s, so the right central air conditioner is a necessity for a safe and enjoyable summer. However, temperatures quickly cool down during the autumn months, and most homeowners don’t need to use these systems past September.

Winters in Stonington are cold with moderate snowfall that varies from season to season. Overnight lows generally fall below the freezing point, and an energy efficient furnace with a high AFUE rating is a necessity. Without these systems in place, home plumbing systems could be at risk of freeze-related damage, leading to some expensive repair bills.
