About Moweaqua, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in portions of Christian and Shelby Counties, Moweaqua is a small Illinois city with about 1,800 residents.  It is located approximately 15 miles south of Decatur and 40 miles southeast of Springfield. Up until 1935, this community was home to a grassy coal mine, which was the tragic site of a methane gas explosion in 1932. Today, the community is served by the Central A&M School District, with older students attending Central A&M High School.

There are several interesting sites and businesses located in Moweaqua. Arguably the most important is the Moweaqua Coal Mine Museum, which explores the area’s mining history as well as the 1932 disaster. Outdoor recreation is also available at one of the community’s parks, which include North Park and Oasis Park.

Moweaqua is home to a variety of interesting restaurants that can suit any palate. Mama Chan’s, Crawford’s Pizza Pub and Pins, and Pat’s Korner Kitchen all provide a great place to grab a delicious meal. Afterwards, many visitors enjoy a stop at one of Moweaqua’s local stores, including Duez Shoe Store, Oak Leaf Wood’n Supplies, and Davis Video.

Like much of the Midwest, Moweaqua is situated in a humid continental climate zone. This means that winters tend to be cold and snowy, so residents must invest in the right furnace. Daytime highs might reach the mid-30s, but temperatures usually plummet well below freezing overnight. To stay warm, residents should invest in energy efficient and properly-sized furnaces system, and an HVAC technician can periodically service existing systems to ensure optimum efficiency.

During the summer, weather conditions are hot and humid. Daily highs often reach into the low-90s, so a central air conditioner with a good SEER rating is critical. An investment in the right home cooling system will ensure that you stay comfortable throughout the summer while saving money on your monthly utility bills.
